WHAT I TREAT
Anxiety and Stress
My skills based approach to therapy can help you understand the cycles that contribute to out-of-control worries and moods that make it difficult to be productive. We can work together to identify the cycles that let your thoughts dominate your ability to relax and enjoy life.
Depressive Mood
I specialize in providing compassionate support for individuals struggling with depressive moods. I understand the profound impact depression can have on your life, affecting your emotional well-being and daily activities.
I work collaboratively with my clients to address the root causes of depressive symptoms. Together, we explore coping strategies, identify negative thought patterns, and develop resilience to navigate life's challenges. My goal is to help you rediscover your strengths, and find your way towards a more positive and fulfilling life.
Borderline Personality and Emotional Regulation
While a diagnosis of BPD can sometimes feel stigmatizing, it's really just a way of saying that your coping strategies during times of stress are less than ideal. Sometimes, those with BPD may have experienced difficult childhood or relationship circumstances. Together, we can find healing and effective coping strategies that bring you the peace and presence you desire.
Unusual Thoughts and Experiences
Sometimes, extreme stress and emotions lead to experiences that you are not certain are a part of reality. Rest assured, that these experiences will be approached with compassion and understanding. Past providers may have misjudged or unfairly approached these experiences. So, it is normal to have some reluctance in seeking treatment.
Though, understanding skills to manage these experiences is an important part of your wellness journey. We can work together to develop strategies to help you stay more grounded in the present, and have the tools you need to cope with such thoughts or experiences when they do occur.
Bipolar Disorder
You may have moods that cycle between periods of high productivity or irritability, then you find yourself in weeks or even months of despair. Coping with bipolar disorder sometimes even comes with unusual thoughts or urges, including substance or alcohol use. Together, we will identify the behaviors that lead up to your mood changes. Then we will work to equip you with the tools that will bring more balance and stability to your life and relationships.
Schizophrenia, Schizo-Affective, and Experiences of Psychosis
Schizophrenia spectrum conditions, including Schizo-Affective disorder, are some of the most misunderstood of all mental health conditions. Unusual thoughts and experiences, sometimes called psychosis, take a compassionate and knowledgeable therapist to help you regain your well-being and relationships. I offer a judgment-free space, where none of your behaviors are thought of as odd, bizarre, or unwelcome. Let's work together to help you find the stability and peace you desire.
Relationship & Family Conflict
Navigating conflicts in relationships and with family can be incredibly challenging. Our relationships with others make up a lot of how we view ourselves. Problems in relationships and family conflicts can cast a shadow over any aspect of your life. I am here to help you and your partner(s)/family work on enhancing communication skills and expressing yourself more clearly without unnecessary misunderstandings with your loved ones. We can work in sessions with your family or partner(s), or individually, to strengthen your relationships.
Suicidal Thoughts & Self-Harm
Self-harm and suicidal ideation can feel like rough waves crashing on the shore, wearing away at the foundations of your well-being. They can erode your resilience, making every situation feel like a battle. You can be assured that in sessions, you’ll receive empathetic and compassionate guidance. My goal is to make you feel heard and understood, reducing your sense of isolation. We will practice techniques focused on building emotional resilience, self-esteem, and a sense of purpose in life.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or OCD, can feel like you’re swirling around an endless spiral of distressing thoughts and seemingly uncontrollable actions. The longer you stay in this spiral, the worse it seems—and you feel like you cannot escape. Luckily, a style of therapy called Exposure Response Prevention Therapy (ERP) can help break this spiral and get you back on your feet. In sessions, we will work together to make your obsessions less anxiety-inducing through gradual exposure and a reduction in compulsions. With practice and hard work, OCD tends to dissipate and become manageable, or go into remission altogether.
